2:15 pm – 4:15 pm | CONCURRENT SESSION. PLEASE CHOOSE ONE. WORKSHOP C: Exceptional Eczematous Expertise (PLUMERIA 2/3) Admit it, you hate this dermpath report. Two dermatologists with practices essentially limited to treating patients with difficult dermatitis and itch will present and discuss a series of cases. You’ll get to see how different experts approach the same cases in a way that will help you figure out how to approach these challenging cases in the real world. We’ll answer questions like these: When do you call it atopic dermatitis vs dermatitis NOS? At what point should you patch test someone? Do they need comprehensive testing or just the TRUE test? What if patch testing isn’t available? When do you use the older systemic drugs and when do you go to a biologic or a systemic JAK inhibitor? How do you choose between them? How do you use them safely and how do you counsel your patients? What about elderly patients who are itchy and have minimal rash – what the heck do they have and what do you do? How about palmar rashes that come back as “Psoriasiform epidermal hyperplasia with mild to moderate spongiosis and a superficial, perivascular lymphocytic infiltrate with scattered eosinophils” – do they have psoriasis or dermatitis and what do you do with them? And bring your toughest questions – ask us about the patient you’ve been struggling with for the last 6 months and what we’d do! | Faculty: M. Zirwas, MD R. Chovatiya, MD PhD |
