Aloha and welcome to the 16th Annual Maui Derm for Dermatologists 2020.
Each year Maui Derm’s lectures, panel discussions and workshops are designed to bridge our ever-widening knowledge gap by providing an in-depth look at topics vital to our practice of dermatology. Enjoy our “new look” program format in which faculty will present in-depth, cutting edge material covering a wide array of medical, cosmetic, coding/billing and CLIA certification topics in dermatology. We hope that you will take time to acquaint yourself with our speakers on an individual basis in the family friendly confines of the Grand Wailea.

Maui Derm for Dermatologists 2020 Faculty
To increase physicians’ knowledge in areas of medical and cosmetic dermatology in order to enable the physicians to provide better care for their patients.
This educational activity is designed for Dermatologists.
The Dermatology landscape is ever changing. There have been significant advances with regards to the diagnosis, management and treatment of both medical and cosmetic dermatologic conditions. Dermatologists require direction and insight into the proper management of these conditions.
This 5-day, comprehensive CME activity will utilize evidence-based data around the management of dermatologic conditions. Case studies, interactive discussion, patient demonstrations, and workshops will enhance the relevancy providing dermatologists with the ability to apply the data into clinical practice.
As a result of attending the Maui Derm for Dermatologists 2019, attendees should be able to:
1. Explain the pathogenesis of various dermatological conditions
2. Cite the mechanisms of action of drugs and therapies that are commonly prescribed by the dermatologist
3. Describe potential adverse effects and resistance issues that may be related to the use of drugs and therapies prescribed by clinicians in dermatology
4. Describe techniques to avoid and manage potential side effects and complications related to dermatologic therapies and procedures
5. Define appropriate outcome measures for the optimal follow-up of patients with dermatologic diseases as well as those receiving surgical and cosmetic procedures
6. Assess the data related to emerging therapies for the treatment of a variety of dermatologic diseases
7. Recognize the important role of clinician/patient communication
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of the University of Cincinnati and Advances in Cosmetic and Medical Dermatology.
The University of Cincinnati is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
The UC Continuing Medical Education Office has reviewed the above activity application and has approved your activity for 39.25 AMA PRA CME Category 1 credits™. Strict adherence to the UC CME Office requirements and the ACCME Standards for Commercial Support is expected.
Based upon the evidence-based content delivered at the Maui Derm conference, the educational e-newsletters will cover the various topics delivered from the meeting. These monthly e-newsletters will be delivered electronically via an “opt-in” process to the dermatology community. The e-newsletters will include key talking points from the presentations, challenging cases including both diagnostic and management issues, embedded videos and podcasts, and downloadable slides. The Maui Derm Therapeutic Forum is an online forum that discusses hot topics and challenging cases and allows for participants to view pictures and videos that accompany the case studies. Faculty will be available to discuss the cases and viewers will have an opportunity to pose challenging questions to the faculty. All topics and case studies will be based upon the evidence-based medicine discussed at the live meeting. Online forums allow us to assess knowledge gaps and practice patterns and provide a means for future needs assessments.
n order to reach a broader audience with the content from the Maui Derm for Dermatologists meeting, Advances in Cosmetic and Medical Dermatology (ACMD) will produce follow-up conference coverage in the Dermatology Times. Dermatology Times is the only clinical news magazine that reaches dermatologists exclusively. The combination of timely, high-level reporting and targeted specialty reach of the most active prescribers in skin care enables Dermatology Times to generate higher readership and exposure.

Maui Derm plans to produce online video web/podcasts that will be available on both the Maui Derm website and MauiDermNews.com.
Maui Derm 2019 will once again have a strategic relationship for enduring online materials with DermTube. com. “Derm Tube” is an educational online video resource site exclusively developed for dermatology health- care providers and industry professionals. DermTube featured speakers and content from previous Maui Derm meetings and garnered an unprecedented number of daily views. We look forward to having Derm Tube join us in 2019 as our our online video source of enduring materials.
