Ali Alikhan, MD
Dr. Ali Alikhan is a board-certified dermatologist who completed medical school at the University of California Davis School of Medicine and dermatology residency at The Mayo Clinic. Following residency, he practiced at the University of Cincinnati, Department of Dermatology, where he served at Residency Co-Program Director, Director of Clinical Trials and Associate Professor. Desiring to move closer to home, he accepted a position at Sutter Medical Foundation, where he serves as their only medical dermatologist in the city of Sacramento.
Dr. Alikhan has authored over 80 peer-reviewed articles and numerous book chapters. Additionally, he is Editor of two books, including the bestselling Review of Dermatology, which is used nationally and internationally for board review and quick reference. He has an interest in hidradenitis suppurativa, serving as Co-Chair of the recently published North American Guidelines in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology. He also interests in acne, urticaria, dermatitis and education. He sits on editorial boards for the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, Journal of Dermatological Treatment, and Dermatology Online Journal, and reviews for most major dermatology journals.
In his free time, Dr. Alikhan enjoys working out, running, watching movies and television, fine dining and experiencing other cultures through food, and, most importantly, spending time with family.
