Neil J. Korman, MD, PhD
Neil J. Korman, M.D., Ph.D. is Professor of Dermatology at University Hospitals Case Medical Center and Clinical Director of the Murdough Family Center for Psoriasis. The Murdough Family Center for Psoriasis is a comprehensive psoriasis research, education and treatment program. It was established in December 2006 after receiving a $5 million donation from the Murdough Foundation and is the largest gift ever awarded for dermatology at a U.S. academic medical center. Dr. Korman received his medical degree and PhD in biomedical engineering from Case Western University in Cleveland, Ohio. He completed a medical internship and dermatology residency at University Hospitals of Cleveland and an immunodermatology fellowship at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD. Dr. Korman has served as the Director of the Dermatology Clinical Trials Unit in the Department of Dermatology at University Hospitals Case Medical Center since 1997. He has also served as the Co-Director since 2000 and Director since 2003 of the Translational Research Core of the department’s NIH-funded Skin Diseases Research Center. Since 1997, he has been the principal or co-principal investigator in more than 100 clinical trials, the majority of which involved psoriasis. He has been a member of the National Psoriasis Foundation (NPF) since 1999 and in 2004 he became a member of the Medical Advisory Board of the NPF. He is the author of over 160 publications and is a member of the American Dermatologic Association, the premier organization recognizing excellent contributions to dermatology. Dr. Korman has served as an associate editor of Medical and Surgical Dermatology and currently serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Cutaneous Medicine and Surgery. He has been a regular speaker at national and international dermatology meetings and also serves as a reviewer for numerous peer reviewed journals. Dr. Korman is the founding Director of the Regional Center for Immunobullous Diseases and also holds subspecialty board certification in dermatological immunology/diagnostic and laboratory immunology.
